The Seven Chakras
There are still many people that don't know what the seven chakras are so this is just a basic primer on what the seven chakras are. If you know what the seven chakras are you may still pick up a little from this post.
You can download the poster I put together and print it on glossy paper to help with visualizing and focusing on each chakra. As you look at the colors of each chakra feel that specific chakra in your own body. Picture it as a spinning vortex of energy and let your body experience the energy associated with each chakra. You can hang this chakra poster at work or in your home for the times when you need a quick energy boost or to help you relax and get centered. Click Here For The Chakra Poster
Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning spinning wheel. This is a system of seven energy centers located along the spine. Each chakra corresponds to an area of the body, a set of behavioral characteristics and stages of spiritual growth. Practicing meditation and focusing your energies can help you to align your chakras and get all the wheels spinning in the same direction and speed. Understanding how to fine tune and control your chakras through meditation can help bring balance and peace to your mind, body and spirit.
There are seven chakras, each associated with a different part of the body along the spine from the perineum to the crown of your head. Each chakra is associated with a particular body location, a color, a central emotional/behavioral issue, as well as many other personal aspects including identity, goals, rights, etc.
The seven chakras are:
Muladhara- base of the spine
Svadhisthana- abdomen, genitals, lower back/hip
Manipura- solar plexus
Anahata- heart area
Visshudha- throat
Ajna- brow
Sahasrara- top of head, cerebral cortex.
Through the practice of meditation, you can learn to focus your concentration and energy on the individual chakras in your body. This will allow you to compensate for areas that may be out of synch with the rest of your body or not active at all.
By balancing the energy among all seven of the chakras, internal spiritual balance can be achieved. This spiritual energy is also known as Kundalini energy. In its dormant state, it can be visualized as a coiled up snake resting at the base of your spine, the Muladhara chakra.
Since the chakras act as valves or pumps regulating the flow of energy through your system, controlled and purposeful focusing can be extremely beneficial in realigning your chakras in a way that will be very beneficial both physical and emotionally.
People spend years trying to unblock their seven chakras and have only moderate success. Part of the problem is in their expectations and also in their technique. Always analyzing and expecting results in the form of an epiphany or Earth shattering energy explosion. Although this is possible most often the experience is one of a small trickle of energy and a slightly elevated sense of well being.
I, myself have experienced both sides of the coin. Without a plan I experienced very little. With a plan I have experienced very intense and hard to explain explosions of energy. If you are not ready for this energy explosion you may harm yourself emotionally and possibly even physically. As you open up these emotional centers you leave yourself open to a flood of suppressed and blocked traumas that you may not be able to deal with. This is not said to scare anyone it is just a fact you have to be aware of. While control is an illusion there must be some semblance of understanding and purpose when you delve into these esoteric practices.
What worked for me is a meditation program that has years of experience and gave me my initial road map, which allowed me to free my mind from the fear of the unknown. If you want to try this then here is a link to the meditation program. You can also search through many other online programs that offer similar experiences. I haven't used the others and can't attest to their effectiveness.
