The Prophecies of Nostradamus

prophesies of nostradamusI have always been interested in prophesy and have a certain affinity for the prophesies of Nostradamus.

There are a number of great prophets that have predicted certain world events, and Nostradamus is no exception. The prophecies of Nostradamus have been studied for centuries, and many of them are said to reveal the meaning behind many current events, such as the bombing of the World Trade Center. Here are some of the common explanations of the prophecies of Nostradamus that will help you to understand the work and mission of this historical figure.

Nostradamus was a poet, and completed a number of quatrains that have distinct prophetic connotations to them. The quatrains were written mainly in French, but bits of Italian, Latin and Greek are included in the poetry as well. While the writings did reveal certain future events, Nostradamus often changed the proper names in the poems by removing or reversing letters, and by using a number of metaphors that could have several meanings to those that did not study the works extensively. It is believed that he did this so that he would not be viewed or tried as a magician.

One of the most popular prophecies of Nostradamus is the foretelling of the World Trade Center tragedy. In century VI, quatrain 97, the writer states, "At forty-five degrees, the sky will burn, fire approaches the great new city, Immediately a huge, scattered flame leaps up when they want to have verification from the Norman. The 'great new city', some people believe, is New York, and the flames are seen by some scholars as the fire that burned the World Trade Center. The great city is also said to be at 45 degrees latitude, which leads many historians to believe that the city is New York.

The prophecies of Nostradamus also include the prediction of a World War in 1999. Nostradamus believed that WWIII would take place in this year, and scholars look at the following quatrain for proof: "In the year 1999 and seven months/The Great King of Terror will come from the sky/He will resurrect Ghengis Khan/ Before and after war rules happily. Scholar John Zachary takes a scientific look at Scripture in conjunction with the prophecies of Nostradamus and concludes that 1998 could be the year that the Antichrist reveals himself.

The 'powerful king coming from the sky' referred to in the second line of the quatrain is a reference to the book of Revelation, which tells of the descent of Satan (of Lucifer) from the heavens to the earth. These prophecies also line up with some other historical figures that have predicted that the years 1998 and 1999 were crucial in the shaping of earth's future, since these were the last two years in the twentieth century.

Nostradamus & 2012? October 8, 2009 at 11:03 pm

While the quatrain may have predicted the 9-11 attack, the water color of the burning tower most certainly did not. The fact is that the Lost Book of Nostradamus is not his work. The book was created as late as the year before it was discovered.
