Someone has said that the Earth was capable of being home to ONE BILLION people riding bikes, not SIX BILLION driving automobiles. I don't know what scientific supporting evidence there might be for such a statement; however, I do know that LIFE wasn't meant to be lived with humanoids destroying other beings and the earth in the process. Something is greatly wrong!
While I accept the Hebraic six days of creation in Genesis 1, I do so as an allegorical story filled with many symbols and metaphors. I mean who was there to report these things? And if your answer is that God, or some Being, spoke these words to Moses and whomever all the other writers of the Pentateuch were, well, we just SEE it differently. And there's nothing wrong with that.
One can still be a Christian and THINK! Even think outside the religious box! 
Religion isn't god any more than science is god. It's ALL GOD! Darwin doesn't have all the answers. No one in this dimension has ALL the answers; however, if we'll allow people to think openly without condemnation, without recriminations, egoic "I'm right and you are wrong" statements, and land in an environment of love and toleration, we might be able to progress a little faster.
We definitely need faster progress!
Scientifically, we've discovered that there's more sensible possibilities as to how mankind got here. So, let's mix a little science with a little spiritual glue. This really won't hurt. In fact it might encourage and awaken you. We come from "out there".

So, are we to stick with an allegorical tale of 6,000 years ago in light of FACTS, especially when there are hundreds of such allegories in hundreds of religious tradition? Not me. I'm out of the crawly caterpillar shell I once inhabited, otherwise called a lepidotpteran larva. I can now fly and there's so much more to see and explore. Who knows what I will BE tomorrow? The Spirit goes wherever it might!
