Talismans of the Ancient World
Many people have their own talisman ideas. "It's a gold ring engraved with weird symbols" or "it's that ancient-looking pendant that my grandpa never took off his neck because it protects him" or "it's a rare gold coin we found in the old chest in the attic". But what are talismans exactly? Do they really possess magical powers?
History Speaks
The oldest known talismans were just symbols scratched on small pieces of stones that were carried around close to the body. The symbols represented whatever powers the wearer wished to possess.
