WOW Priest Leveling & Quest Guide
If your an experienced world of warcraft gamer you can appreciate the value of the Priest. While other classes have some healing abilities, the Priest is pretty much the king of all healers. The Priest is the quiet character in the background keeping an eye on the group and nurturing them much like a Shepherd watches over his flock.

If the idea of being a priest sounds a little boring to you, you have to understand that it is not just hanging out with a group and healing them all the time. Group play is what the priest is most adapted to. Start off playing your priest as part of a group and only start soloing alot when you have reached level 25 or so. Don't let this discourage you from choosing to play a Priest though, it is a very powerful range damage character and is very respected by other classes. One last thing before we move on, when playing a Priest in PVP don't be surprised when you find the other team concentrating more on killing you than the rest of your group. Yet another reason the priest is exciting to play. Every group appreciates the talents of a priest so you will never be without group invites.
There used to be just seven races available to the priest class, draenei's,dwarves,human's or night elves (Alliance) blood elves,troll's or undead (Horde).
With the Cataclysm addition you will also be able to play gnomes and taurens as priests and both new races, goblins and worgens.
Ok, enough chat lets get your wow priest up a few levels.
The Lesser Heal spell and long range damage Smite spell will be your primary offensive and defensive abilities to start, and once you are able to use the Power Word Fortitude this will be a big help. You should have Fortitude active as of now as it will be of help to all around you. Even though the priest is the premier healer in world of warcraft does not mean that they don't have to keep a close eye on their own health and especially their mana,your group is relying on you to keep them healed and if you die so may they. Obviously the priest is not a hand to hand kinda class so maintain your position towards the back of the group, you are most effective when your can stay focused on your range spells. Find cover as far away from the hand to hand combat as you can, a priest has little chance of doing well fighting hand to hand.
Once you reach level 4 you can use the debuff Shadow Word Pain, you will find this very helpful on your early levels. Continue using Shadow Word Pain and only switch back to Fortitude if needed. Restart Shadow Word Pain when you need to as it will wear off after a while, in the mean time keep using Smite for some mob control.
Leveling your priest to level 6 will allow you to use a nice shielding buff known as Power Word Shield, be sure to check it out. The priest is not able to wear armor of any kind so buff's like this are very important when going into battle. Weather or not you are playing with a group or solo when arriving at level 6 be sure to see the trainer in your area as you will get a very rewarding quest.
At level 8 the Renew spell and Fade will become available to you.Renew is a Heal Over Time or "HOT" spell which should be used when a fight is near, or after a battle. Using Fade will lessen your aggro so your foe's will pay less attention to you.
Once you get to level 10 in WOW your priest really gets cool with Mind Blast. Mind Blast is an awesome range attack spell that does great damage and doesn't use too much mana. Resurrection is now available to you enabling you to resurrect other players. Also at level 10 you will receive your first talent point, check out the three different directions in which you may build your priest.
You will finally get a good defensive buff called Inner Fire when you reach level 12, use it to protect against enemy attacks.
From this point on you will work your way up the levels at a pretty good pace, just check for quests at all times and think about how you wish to build your Priest. For more advanced Priest information you should look into getting a detailed WOW guide.
