Massage Envy Hoboken Ties Success with Community
Amidst the chaotic lifestyles people seem to lead and the everlasting search for physical and emotional well being and balance, many people are turning to spas for a solution to headaches and backaches. Mirelis Alvarez, a North Bergen native along with her husband Juan Alvarez, opened a highly successful Massage Envy in Hoboken, New Jersey, in the hopes of helping the Hoboken community relieve their stress without breaking the bank.
Mirelis started her entrepreneurial journey with Massage Envy by accident. She started out as a client herself who regularly suffered from back pains and would visit Massage Envy to reap the health benefits of a good massage. After picking up a pamphlet on the world-leading franchise, she was convinced it was time for a change to a career that would allow her to give back to the community she saw evolve over the years.
"Hoboken used to be known for parties and now it has evolved into a place where people can raise their kids. It's a great community," said Mirelis. "We identify with the community, so it was a natural fit to open a Massage Envy in Hoboken."
Ever since opening its doors in November 2009, the Massage Envy in Hoboken has proven to be a force to be reckoned with. When asked about the immediate success of her franchise, Mirelis is quick to point out what truly makes Massage Envy Hoboken a hit.
"We try to be present and we have a great team. The therapists love what they do and it translates into our overall success," she said. "Also, when people walk in there is a ‘wow' factor because the design of the spa is very zen and the space is huge. We have 19 rooms and even a couple's room, so clients are amazed with the quality and are happy with the affordability. People understand that their lives are so stressful that they need a massage and we're open until 10 p.m., so we are always able to accommodate."
Mirelis has great expectations for the future of Massage Envy. "I see us expanding," she said. "We certainly want to be able to provide for the community." Her sense of community was one of the things that drew her to Massage Envy in the first plcae. She saw a need for affordable luxury and she met the need not just of those seeking a good massage, but of a community seeking a business that always gives back.
