The Great Cycle of the Mayan Long Count calendar is said to end on the winter solstice of 2012, and while the 2012 prophecies can explain the Mayan interpretation concerning the end of the world this date also signifies the creation of a New World Age.
The Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012, and the Mayans concluded this date due to their understanding of the solar system. The way that the world turns is said to coincide with spiritual consciousness and occurrences, and the 2012 prophecies are the most significant according to the Mayans. There are a number of transitions that will take place with the earth and its inhabitants according to this prophecy, including commissions to take better care of our minds and the earth. Solar flares also cause displacement in the earth’s rotation, and this will, and has, produced great catastrophes on the earth.
The cycles of the earth never change according to the Mayans–only the consciousness of the people that are living in a certain time. The Mayan civilization was started at the beginning of this 5,125 year cycle, and at the end of this cycle, it is believed that humanity will be ready to go through the ‘door’ that the Mayans have left open, in order to restore humanity and achieve a higher consciousness that will serve all people.
