Horoscope
A horoscope is an astrological map of the heavens keyed to the time and place of a specific birth. First of all, a horoscope is an astrological map of the heavens keyed to the time and place of a specific birth. It is a kind of a map that appears as a two dimensional chart. It shows position of the Sun, the Moon, and planets at the precise moment of your birth. The earth moves from west to east & hence the Sun appears to move from east to west. The 360 degree circle of the zodiac is divided into 12 parts of 30 degrees each called the zodiac signs. Each sign has special characteristics that mark and distinguish it from others. In setting up this astrological map for the birth of a native we divide the circle into twelve sections. These areas are called houses. Each house defines a SPECIFIC AREA. The first house concerns the native's personal identity. The second house deals wit the native's earning power or source of supply. The third house concerns the native's thoughts or sense of communication, etc. The horoscope map, in addition to house areas and spatial designators called signs, also contains a third symbol?the planets, including the Sun and Moon. While the houses of the horoscope identify areas of experience and the signs set the stage under which these areas of experience will operate, the planets act as symbols of force or the focus of attention bringing the other two elements together. A correct interpretation of all these sky bodies exposes much about you. They could be thought of as weather conditions in the sky at the moment of your birth. You can treat this map as a guide of your personality. But it doesn't mean that all your life has already been decided. It's largely up to you to decide that. While you usually have freedom of choice or free will, the horoscope does reflect the natural inclinations you have, the lessons you have to learn, the issues to be faced, and the problems to be solved. These "weather conditions" shows the energies you've been given. The use that you make of these energies, or opportunities, if you will, depends upon you, the individual. In other words, the information learned from your horoscope may only give you some insights and understanding of the reasons why you behave as you do. Indian Concept Of Worship
Pooja is the act of showing reverence to a god, a spirit, or another aspect of the divine through invocations, prayers, songs, and rituals. An essential part of Pooja for the Hindu devotee is making a spiritual connection with the divine. Most often that contact is facilitated through an object: an element of nature, a sculpture, a vessel, a painting, or a print. It is possible to reduce the suffering due to the unfavorable position of planets through sincere reliance on God, the One who controls the planets. How Pooja is performed A worshipper is required to be pure of body and mind. The Puranas lay more stress on the quality of devotion and good behaviour than on rigid Pooja procedures. Pooja originated as a substitute to homa and other Vedic sacrifices which women and Shudras could not perform and which required animal sacrifices. Due to Dravidian (see Dasas), Buddhist and Jain influences that preached non-violence, the killing or sacrifice of animals was discontinued and with the development of iconography, idol worship and Pooja took the place of sacrifice. It was also recognized that worship was essential for all, whatever the gender or caste (see Varna) and therefore Pooja was formalized as a universal option instead of the exclusive Hawan. What is hawan Hawans are Poojas performed for a particular deity by invoking Agni - the God of fire. Each Hawan is performed strictly according to scriptures. These are conducted by fully learned and experienced vedic scholars. The ingredients recquired for these Hawans are different for each Hawans. Each Hawan is performed after praying (Shankalpa) for the specific relief / benefit desired for each individual. After each Hawan, pundits are fed with vedic prayers Pooja benefit in Life ? Benefits of a Pooja according to our sacred texts, Pooja - ? Disciplines the mind ? Energizes the deity and the worshipper ? Enables one to experience oneness with divinity as we unconsciously offer the self through our material offerings. Pooja establishes a bridge between the worshipper (the lover) and the deity (the loved). It facilitates flow of love-energy in both ways. This energy not only sanctifies the self but also re-vitalizes the body's resources, making one experience, what is called HOLY BLISS. Thus both the worshipped and the worshipper benefit from Pooja. Yantra Use ? The writing, painting, engraving or whatever other form of transference which is employed must be done according to a specified set of rules. For instance, certain yantras can only be made on certain days, at a certain time. Similarly, there is a distinct link between the kind of yantra and the kind of metal chosenThe type of pen, its length, width, etc, used for preparing a yantra variesaccording to the purpose and type of yantra. Whether on paper or any other material, the size of the yantra is also pre-specified, as is the duration for whichits efficacy will last. Then again, the yantras must be installed in a certain manner, on a certain day, at a certain time, facing a certain direction and must besanctified by a specific mantra begun on a certain day and time, recited for a specific number of times. There are various other rules also. A particular yantra must be washed in the specified manner, for example, in milk and water. Unless a yantra is worn or installed according to the rules, its efficacy is greatly reduced and the effects virtually diminish.
