Pilates isn't just an exercise. It is a name of the person who goes with the first name Joseph, who have founded health fitness exercises that are now benefiting many individuals. The reason behind the Pilates exercise is for a person to simply be able to improve his physical form by combining stretching and balance to increase one's strength and flexibility.

Joseph Pilates didn't just invented the Pilates exercise out of nothing. He took ideas and merged it altogether into one. Influences ranged from the popular Yoga exercise from India, the Zen of the Buddhists and combined physical exercises from the Roman and Greek empire. You see, it wasn't only Joseph Pilates who believed that attaining a perfect form through stretching exercises is possible. People down the dates of history have already formulated and combined different body activities on how to maintain a healthy physical life.

Aside from the satisfying physical form a person may be able to attain in observing Pilates exercises, attaining a stress-free feeling is one of the reasons why many people think that Pilates is a good remedy from a day in the office. This makes the exercise even desirable for office individuals because of the availability of it. All you need is a map (and a video if done at home). Even pregnant women aren't also exempted from this program. Since the Pilates exercises initiates from the center of the body, stays and ends on it, it does benefit a pregnant woman to execute Pilates exercises because of the way it strengthens one's back.

Moving forward, you then ask, what about the really old people? The ones whose ages range from 60s to 70s to 80s. There have been studies made about Pilates exercises on elderly people and it proves to be positive even for them. The main benefits your grandmother or grandfather can reap from doing a regular Pilates exercise is a sturdy (spine) back and improved balance. This makes them one step farther from falling. Another is simply the fact that osteoporosis can be prevented. A regular Pilates exercise can improve posture of older people.
